The mature-aged rookie had his start to the season delayed by an ankle injury. Hunter made his Club debut in Round Five of the SANFL season against Glenelg and spent the majority of the first half of the year as a key forward. He then moved further up the ground later in the season as a mobile ruckman, averaging 11 hit-outs a match and finishing with 18 goals from 17 games. Amassed a season-high 26 hit-outs and kicked two goals in the Club’s thrilling Round 15 win over Sturt. An elite runner for his size, Hunter will continue to hone his craft in Season 2017.

An athletic ruckman, who won the NEAFL Rising Star award in 2014, as well as the best and fairest award for his club Redland. Hunter is a strong mark and likes to crash packs. His vertical jump scores at the state combine screening last month were ranked top six across Australia. Hunter also ran a 14.9 beep test and posted a time of 3.04 seconds in the 20-metre sprint. Originally from Warners Bay near Newcastle in NSW, the apprentice electrician moved north to further his football in 2013.
