2010 season:
Despite missing the first month through a thumb injury, Graham Johncock had one of his career best years in 2010. Johncock missed seven games through injury and suspension and still took out the Max Basheer Medal as FIVEaa's Footballer of the year and also won the 19th Man Award as voted by Adelaide’s members for their most valuable player of 2010. From his 15 games he averaged 21 possessions and led Adelaide’s rebound 50’s with 55. He had a season high 32 disposals against Melbourne in round 13 and 27 touches including eight rebound 50’s against Collingwood. Johncock received extra attention throughout the season as teams tried to stop his attacking run out of defence but he adjusted with a tag following advice from senior teammates.

“I seem to get tagged every so often and teams try and stifle our run from down back. I had a bit of experience with being tagged against Hawthorn (in round 11) and Craigy moved me up forward straight away, so I spoke to him during the week and asked that if I got tagged again to let me deal with it a little bit more. I had a chat to some of the guys, who get tagged regularly like Simon Goodwin and Andrew McLeod and they told me just to be strong with it because it’s the tagger’s job to stop me obviously. They gave me some tips like trying to go to another opposition player and try and stick with them to make it a 2-on-1.”

David Noble’s 2010 review:
“Played some of the best footy I've seen him play and hopefully he can reproduce the preparation and maturity he showed in the second half of the year. We were impressed with his leadership developing and we hope that it continues because he has a great footy head. He has great knowledge and we're hoping we can make use of that from the back line to the forward line because he could play both ends next year.”

Career:

Johncock is entering his ninth season at the club after being a late draft pick (No 67) at the 2000 national draft. From Port Lincoln’s Mallee Park Football Club, Johncock played some SANFL football for Port Adelaide Magpies. He was the club’s leading Goalkicker in 2003 with 30 goals but he has spent a majority of his career in defence. In 2005 he led club champion voting half way through the year but broke his leg and missed a large part of the season. The last few years he has been a part of one of the AFL’s best defensive units. In 2008 he represented the Dream Team in the AFL’s 150th year showpiece game. Produced some of his best football again in 2009 as he collected 253 kicks, the fifth highest at the club, 216 handballs and 128 marks. He polled 38 votes at Club Champion finishing equal fourth and played his 150th game for the club.
