The 20-year-old former rookie made his debut in round four following a shoulder injury to Phil Davis and held his spot for another 10 games, racking up 20 disposals and nine marks against St Kilda in round six. The lightning-quick backman looked most comfortable playing as a third tall, but at 194cm tall has the capacity to play in a key position and will compete with Talia, Sam Shaw and new recruit Lewis Johnston for a permanent position in defence.
David Noble: “Even though Luke couldn't wiggle his way back into the team later in the year, we were really excited with what we saw. He's got enormous closing speed and plays with some real maturity. Given another 20-30 games, I think he's going to be a really high quality defender, who can play both tall and small.”
