2009 review:
Maric started the 2009 season as Adelaide’s leading ruckman. He had 21 hitouts in round one and 25 in round two but struggled in the next few games and was dropped in round five. He returned in round nine after good form for Port Magpies in the SANFL and consolidated his spot in the side in the second half of the season. He provided more of a presence around the ground with his contested marking a big improvement. He had a career best 358 hitouts for the season, collected 196 disposals and took 57 marks.

David Noble’s 2009 review:
"Ivan improved significantly throughout the year. He’s one of those guys that once you give him the incentive of having to stand up and deliver he takes his game to another level. In the last three or four weeks his linkage work improved and he was terrific."

Career:
A later starter to the game – he didn’t play competitively until he was 16 because of a blossoming basketball career – Maric nearly quit in his second season with Calder Cannons because of his frustration with the technical aspects of the game. But Maric was talked into continuing and a few months later was taken by the Crows at pick 40 in the 2004 Draft. He played eight games in 2006 when Rhett Biglands and Matthew Clarke were the dominant ruckmen and in 2007 played only six games because of a hip injury. In 2008 he reclaimed the mantle as Adelaide’s leading ruckman, playing 16 games and collecting 274 hitouts.
