Rory Sloane was one of the stand-out performers among Crows playing in the SANFL on the weekend.

The 2008 draftee was among North’s best in Sunday’s loss to Glenelg. Playing mainly at half-back, Sloane had 13 kicks and 15 handballs and he continues to add offensive run to his game.

Greg Gallman, back in North’s league side, had a solid game in defence and finished with three kicks and 11 handballs. Phil Davis (nine kicks, eight handballs) made a couple of early errors but he fought back. He also showed some good signs when shifted forward later in the game, taking a strong mark and kicking a goal from 45 metres. Wingman Tony Armstrong (10 kicks, four handballs) did not use the ball to his usual standard.

Aaron Kite made the most of his recall to Norwood’s league side, booting 4.1. He had 13 kicks, six marks and a handball and was lively in the forward, producing possibly his best game since he arrived at the club. Will Young (seven kicks, six handballs) played well on a small forward and made good decisions about when to run and when to defend.

For the winning Eagles side, Jared Perenko made the club’s best list with a solid defensive game. He had 14 possessions. Trent Hentschel played at full back and took four contested marks among 13 possessions. His opponent kicked a couple of goals from lead-up marks but Hentschel moved and competed well in his third game since returning from knee surgery.

Brian Donnelly (Glenelg) had a quiet day in the reserves, picking up three possessions.

Sturt, Central District and the Panthers all had a bye.
