Crows senior assistant coach Scott Camporeale says Adelaide’s match committee will take a calculated approach to selection this week ahead of Saturday night’s clash with the Suns.
Speaking to media at Adelaide Airport on Wednesday morning, Camporeale said it was the coaches’ job to take emotion out of the selection process.
“It’s easy to be emotional about it - that’s why we’re in the positions that we are to make sure we’re consistent with our message and take the emotion out of it,” Camporeale said.
“We’re all disappointed, especially in a Showdown, but we’ll make a calculated decision on that [selection].”
INJURY UPDATE: Three Crows facing tests
Camporeale said there were plenty of learnings to take out of the side’s disappointing loss to Port Adelaide on Saturday.
“If we look at it across the season, we’ve been really good in that area [midfield] - sitting top four/top five in terms of clearances and scores for and against,” he said.
“Those things are important to us absolutely, but Port to their credit are number one in the comp and they showed why they are on the weekend.
PREVIEW: Adelaide v Gold Coast
Camporeale said he was confident it was a “one-off” performance.
“We played against GWS who are supposed to be the best running team in the competition and we handled them okay,” he said.
“We didn’t have our best second half, that’s the reality.”
As the team prepared to travel to the Gold Coast, Camporeale confirmed the Club would take a 28-man squad to the east coast.
“We’ll take about 28 guys up there, we’ll do some match simulation and (our) main session” Camporeale said.
“Obviously if there’s any injuries up there, we won’t take any risks with those guys.
“It [seelection] is about finding the balance and that group dynamic.”
