It’s a season opener again filled with COVID-19 challenges, but Adelaide AFLW captain Chelsea Randall says her side’s eyes are on the Round One prize.

The Crows’ Round One clash, originally to be played in Western Australia, was rescheduled for Flinders University Stadium on Sunday, January 9, due to continuing border restrictions.

Adelaide will now face-off against reigning premiers Brisbane - a challenge Randall said her teammates would relish.

“I’m feeling great… it’s one of the best and hardest pre-seasons I’ve been a part of,” Randall told the media on Tuesday.

Despite senior coach Matthew Clarke being impacted by COVID-19 over the Christmas break, Randall said the team had charged through the challenges thrown at them.

“In these circumstances and the world we’re currently living in you can only control what you can control and be adaptable to change,” Randall said.

“The girls have certainly done that in controlling what they can and preparing themselves for the season ahead.”

Randall said her side wasn’t daunted by the upcoming Grand Final rematch and couldn’t wait to get back in front of fans.

“There’s a bit of fire in the belly after losing a Grand Final, so what comes from that is an incredible off-season from our girls - a lot of the young ones just went, ‘Nup, I want to be better’ and that’s awesome to see,” she said.

“We’ve got some terrific fans across the state, across Australia but particularly down south… a few of our players are from South Adelaide so it’s like playing at home for them.

“It’s been eight months since we’ve played a game of footy now so I’m just hungry… I can’t wait to play some football with mates again and hopefully make our Members really proud of us.”

The Crows take on Brisbane at Flinders University Stadium (SA) on Sunday January 9, with first bounce at 1.40pm.

Tickets will go on sale Thursday morning.
