Adelaide defender Mitch Hinge was not only a footy-crazed youngster, but also a mad Crows supporter.

And there was one player who Hinge idolised the most.

Speaking on the Crows Show in a new segment with Tom Doedee, Hinge revealed former Adelaide forward Trent Hentschel was his childhood hero.

Hinge can also recall his favourite memory, or ‘Whopper Moment’ of Hentschel playing.

“I was a Crows fan as a youngster… My favourite player was Trent Hentschel surprisingly,” Hinge said.

“He was actually a goal kicker in the forward line and I think it was his hair that drew me to him.

“I remember it was Andrew McLeod’s 250th game, so (it was) already a big game.

“I would’ve been very, very young at the time, but I remember Trent Hentschel kicked eight goals against Essendon, the hair is just flowing, I loved it and he’s kicked eight.

"I think it was his hair that drew me to him.

“That’s my Whopper Moment.”

Hinge enjoyed a solid return to the Crows side in the opening round clash against Fremantle after a season-ending shoulder injury left him on the sidelines in 2021.

The 23-year-old said he was keen to be playing for the Club he supported growing up after being on Brisbane’s AFL list for two seasons.

Although he has never met his childhood idol, Hinge is looking forward to creating his own path at the Adelaide Football Club.

“I actually haven’t met him (Hentschel),” Hinge said.

“Now I’m here (at the Club) and making my own memories, I’m happy for my career to take over and make some memories myself and be part of it.”

Also on the Crows Show this week, Belinda Sloane chats to new draftee Josh Rachele and fans will be given an insight from AFLW Senior Coach Matthew Clarke ahead of Adelaide’s Preliminary Final against Fremantle.

The Crows Show airs on Channel 7 this Saturday at 4pm after Adelaide’s Round Two game against Collingwood.
