After a 14-point loss to Hawthorn, Adelaide has slipped to second on the AFL ladder – four points behind Greater Western Sydney.

Hawthorn has now won eight of its past nine matches against the Crows, including all three clashes at Adelaide Oval. The Hawks (twice) are the only team to beat Adelaide after the mid-season bye.

The Crows finished with 12 more inside 50ms than the Hawks, but were unable to convert on the scoreboard.

Adelaide generated a score with only 39 per cent of its forward 50m entries – ranked 16th for the round. In contrast, Hawthorn kicked a goal from 31.8 per cent of its inside 50ms – ranked third in Round 14.

Promising midfielder Hugh Greenwood was a standout in Adelaide’s loss on Thursday night. Greenwood collected 21 disposals at 95 per cent efficiency in only 68 per cent game time. The left-footer also laid nine tackles from a game-high 30 pressure acts and won six clearances.

Once again, Matt Crouch was Adelaide’s leading possession winner with 35. He also laid eight tackles, won five clearances and generated four inside 50ms.

Brad Crouch won more clearances (10) and laid more tackles (11) than any other player on the ground. He finished with 29 possessions, including an equal-game high 18 contested possessions.

Crows forward Josh Jenkins was the leading goalkicker at Adelaide Oval. Jenkins kicked three, including his 200th AFL goal.
