Adelaide could be bolstered by the return of several key players for Saturday’s Showdown 45.

Rising Star chance Tom Doedee is expected to return after missing the Round 19 loss to Melbourne with concussion.

Crows General Manager High Performance Matt Hass said the Doedee had presented well at the start of this week.

Doeds has progressed reasonably well, he was a little bit slow to get going last week but all things are pointing towards him training this week and being available on the weekend,” Hass said.

Veterans Richard Douglas (ankle) and David Mackay (ribs) are also a chance to come back but will need to complete Wednesday’s main training session.

“Both of those guys are progressing nicely,” Hass said.

“They will train with the group on Wednesday and should they get through that they will be available for selection.”

Winger Paul Seedsman has been ruled out of the Showdown after suffering a hamstring strain on Saturday night.

“Unfortunately for Seeds he injured his hammy in the first quarter,” Hass said.

“(Scans) have come back pretty minor and he looks to miss a couple of weeks.”

Forward Mitch McGovern will have his training loads monitored this week after suffering an AC joint injury against Melbourne.

Brodie Smith is a chance to make his first appearance at AFL level since rupturing his ACL in last year’s Qualifying Final win against Greater Western Sydney.

“Brodie has gone really well, he’s built on last week and had a really good game against North on the weekend,” Hass said.

“He’s starting to knock on match committee’s door so it will come down to Don and coaches as to which way they go.”

Defender Kyle Hartigan will spend at least another week on the sideline with knee soreness but the news is better for young midfielder Jackson Edwards who is nearing a return from an ankle injury.
