Mitch McGovern played 12 games in 2018, missing a large chunk of the season after an ankle injury he sustained in Showdown 44.

The 23-year-old averaged 12.9 disposals, 6.5 marks and kicked 15 goals to average just over a goal a game.

He received a mark of the year nomination for his high-flying hanger in Adelaide’s Round Seven clash with Carlton.

McGovern impressed Adelaide’s 55-point win over the Blues at Adelaide Oval as he kicked five goals from 16 disposals and nine marks.

Post-match, coach Don Pyke said he had been impressed with the McGovern’s performance.

“He jumped at the ball really strongly and finished his work well,” he said.
