Adelaide rounded out a three-day trip on the Fleurieu Peninsula with a strenuous open training session at Noarlunga Oval on Wednesday morning.

Fun may have been the theme of the trip, but players were put to the test for their final session of 2018 as fans watched on.

“The boys have been training really well and today was a nice little send off from the high-performance staff to tip them over the line,” Don Pyke told reporters following the session.

“You can see from today that the guys are running really well, they’re training at a really high intensity, the energy is really high and they’re enjoying what they’re doing, which is really important.”

Not everyone participated in the open session with Hugh Greenwood watching on from the sidelines.

The midfielder’s training schedule is being managed due to an abdominal tendon injury, but he is expected to increase his workload in the new year and be available for Round One.

Greenwood joined his teammates for the signing session after training with the hundreds of fans who came out to watch.

Players and coaches will now take a three-week Christmas break before returning to West Lakes in the new year.
