Two Crows could make their much-anticipated returns to competitive football this weekend, with Paul Seedsman and Richard Douglas facing tests ahead of Round Nine.

After suffering a knee injury in Round Three, Seedsman is eyeing a return on the back of a solid three weeks of full training.

“Seedo’s made great progress since he sustained the hyperextension injury to his knee six weeks ago,” Crows Science and Medical Services Coordinate Steve Saunders told AFC Media.

“He’s now got three weeks of training under his belt and hasn’t missed a beat in that time.

“We expect him to train fully this week and be available to play.”

Douglas will also push for selection after overcoming a ankle injury he sustained in Round One.

“Dougy’s doing well since having surgery for a syndesmosis injury (high ankle sprain),” Saunders said.

“He’s now eight weeks post-op and has a large volume of training under his belt and will be putting his hand up to play this weekend as well.”

Matt Crouch will also face assessment later this week after injuring his hip in the second quarter of Showdown 46 on Saturday night.

“Crouch sustained a heavy contusion to the hip at the start of the second quarter,” Saunders said.

“He continued to play for a while but was really limited in function so we removed him from play.

“He’ll work really hard this week to get up for main training on Thursday and be assessed on Thursday or Friday in regards to his availability to play.

Defender Andrew McPherson will aim to play his first game of 2019 this weekend after overcoming a back injury.

“The last three weeks, Macca’s been able to train fully but we’ve been making sure some residual low-level back symptoms had settled before we return him to play,” Saunders said.

“We expect him to return now and we’re looking forward to seeing him back out there.”

Saunders confirmed experienced midfielder Bryce Gibbs would be available after he was managed in Round Eight with a back injury.
