Adelaide may not have come away with the win in its second SANFLW exhibition match, but  coach and AFLW vice-captain Courtney Cramey said the improvement in her young side was immense.

Port Adelaide won the match against the Crows by 36 points, after a strong start which saw the home side kick four goals to none in the opening quarter.

Adelaide bounced back with two goals in the second quarter but were held goalless for the remainder of the game.

Cramey said although the side was striving for a win, the result was not the ultimate focus of the series.

“Port jumped us early so it was tough to come back from that, but I thought in the second quarter we competed hard and brought that gap a bit closer,” Cramey said.

“I was proud of the girls in the fact you could see an improvement from game one to game two.

“That was what the whole program was about, was exposing them to the AFLW standards and training and improving their fundamentals, and we saw that on the weekend.”

Midfielder Erica Greet played well in the middle with 13 disposals, three tackles and three clearances, while Ellie Kellock was tough on ball with 12 touches, nine tackles and five clearances.

Defenders Ashleigh Woodland (eight disposals and three rebound 50s) and Deni Sonneman (13 disposals and three spoils) were both strong in defence.

Cramey said she hoped the players could take their experience back to their respective SANFLW clubs.

“We spoke after the game about how they can be leaders around their clubs in what they do,” she said.

“It’s not about having a label of captain or being part of the leadership group, it’s about sharing their knowledge of the last eight weeks and the exhibition program and trying to improve everyone around them.”

The game ended early in the final quarter after Crows forward Katelyn Rosenzweig was injured in an awkward fall from a marking contest.

Rosenzweig was taken to hospital to have scans and was cleared of serious damage before being discharged on Monday.

Zoe Prowse also suffered a broken arm during the match.

The Club would like to thank all medical staff who helped Katelyn at the ground.
