Against the Suns, Mackay collected a season-high 23 disposals at an elite efficiency rating of 87 per cent.

Alongside Brodie Smith, Mackay had a game-high six inside-50s and four rebound-50s.

In the second quarter, the 31-year-old produced one of the plays of the season, starting with a run-down tackle on Suns midfielder Will Brodie.

Mackay was quickly back on his feet to collect and hit Cam Ellis-Yolmen with a direct kick in the midfield.

Not yet content, Mackay kept running to receive the handball before firing a bullet pass at Eddie Betts in the forward 50, who went on to score the goal.
