'The best couple of weeks ever': Sloane

Sloane speaks at Club Champion Rory Sloane speaks to AFC Media about life at the Crows and his newborn Sonny after receiving the Players' Trademark Award.

If there’s one thing that can soften the blow of missing finals, it’s welcoming a child into the world and for Crows captain Rory Sloane, the arrival of baby boy Sonny has been just that.

Speaking at Adelaide’s Club Champion dinner on Thursday night, the 29-year-old labelled his past fortnight as "awesome" after he and wife Belinda welcomed Sonny into the world on September 16.

For Sloane, having more time to spend at home has allowed him to simply "enjoy being a dad".

"I suppose one of the silver linings to not playing finals is that you get to spend that time at home and get up at night to help where I can," Sloane said.

"It’s been the best couple of weeks ever.

"Absolutely loving life at the moment, Belinda and Sonny both travelling really well.

"Unfortunately, she was going to try and come, but she’s just resting up at home tonight."

A smile beaming across his face, Sloane was quick to identify his parenting highlight to date.

"Bath time, I love it," he said.

"It’s my time, where I get to have really intimate time with Sonny, so I love bath time."
