We want him there next year: Reid on Brad Crouch's future, AFL Trade Period

Trade Wrap: October 7 An update from Justin Reid after Day One of the Trade Period concludes in Melbourne.

Adelaide list manager Justin Reid says the Crows want midfielder Brad Crouch to remain at West Lakes, despite speculation linking him to a move to the Gold Coast.

Speaking to the media on day one of the AFL Trade Period in Melbourne on Monday, Reid confirmed Crouch’s desire to stay in South Australia.

“Yeah, absolutely (he wants to stay). That’s what he’s told us,” Reid said.

“Brad’s contracted, so we’ve been really clear with Brad.

“I guess at this time of year there are a lot of names that are bandied around with your club.

“But he’s really clear he wants to be at the football club, and we want him there next year as well.”

Reid said Adelaide hoped to hire a new senior coach in the next 10 days, an appointment which would allow contract extension talks to begin between the Crows and their reigning Club Champion.

“We’ve been really clear with Brad and his management that when that coach lands there will be no real timelines, but after that we’ll sit down with the new coach and sit down with his management,” Reid said.

Adelaide's list management team held meetings with several clubs on Monday, but it was “early days” for discussions on deals involving Alex Keath, Hugh Greenwood and Josh Jenkins

Meantime, talks continue with Carlton around a return to Ikon Park for forward Eddie Betts

“It’s a family decision in regard to Eddie, so it’s just something they’re working through,” Reid said.

“We’ve got good dialogue with Carlton at the moment, but we’ll work through that over the next week.”

The AFL Trade Period closes on Wednesday October 16 at 7.30pm AEDT.
