Crows forward Taylor Walker says he fell “even more in love” with his wife Ellie during the birth of their son Hugo last Thursday, November 7.

Speaking to Roo & Ditts on Triple M, the 28-year-old said he has endless respect for the mother of his son.

“She’s going really well, she’s tough as nails,” Walker said.

“Don’t you just have so much more love and respect for them after what they go through - it’s amazing.

“She’s more stubborn than I am, she thinks she’ll be back driving asap but I’ll take the keys away from her.”

Incredibly, Walker explained that the woman who delivered Hugo was also from his hometown of Broken Hill.

"We had five nights in Ashford Hospital, we had the best nurses ever," Walker said.

"What a small world, a Broken Hill lady delivered Hugo and her brother lives directly across the road from us.

"We got out of hospital yesterday and the little fella is feeding and sleeping really well."

The couple took Hugo home for the first time on Tuesday and Walker admitted it was a long drive.

“I don’t reckon I got over 30 kilometres an hour,” Walker said.

“I got beeped eight times and got a couple of birds from people who were frustrated.

“I was very cautious.”

Walker said he’s hardly left his son’s side since.

“It’s so exciting, I can’t stop looking at him,” Walker said.

“The other morning, I was sitting there after I changed his nappy and I just held him in my hands.

“When I looked at the clock, 40 minutes had gone.

“I’d just been staring at him.”

When Walker announced the arrival of his son last Friday, he posted a heartwarming message about Ellie and Hugo:
