Ben Davis will be busy off the field in 2020, with the 22-year-old hoping to improve a number of creative skills in the New Year.

Already quite the talented artist, Davis is planning on spending more of 2020 painting and drawing, with a focus on ocean creatures.

“I like to think of myself as quite the artist, so I'll do more painting, and drawing, which then helps my painting,” Davis said.

“I've painted a stingray, a turtle and I'm painting a seahorse at the moment, which is coming along nicely.

“I love doing sea related stuff, using my blues and my greens.”

When he’s not preoccupied at the canvas, Davis will be spending more time playing his guitar.

A self-taught guitarist, Davis is hoping to get some help from professionals so his playing skills go to the next level.

“I want to learn a few more complicated songs on guitar, so a New Year's resolution for guitar would be to get a couple lessons and see how far I can take that,” Davis said.

“A goal song would be Keep Your Head Up by Ben Howard – I love that.

“I've got a couple of my own songs that I've made up, but that'd be unreal if I could play that.”

On the field, Davis also has some big goals for the 2020 season.

After making his AFL debut in 2019, the forward is hoping to play more senior football next year.

“I want to play Round One, and there is obviously a couple of little goals along the way, but that's the New Year's resolution,” he said.

“I feel like I've been training pretty well so far, so I’m hoping to keep that form throughout each session, keep the training standard up and keep talking around the older boys and make sure I’m heard and they trust me with the game plan."
