Crows wingman Paul Seedsman says he was impressed by several of his young teammates in Saturday’s Under-23 trial game, in particular forward Darcy Fogarty.

Fogarty kicked three goals against the Power - continuing the strong form he had finishing off the 2019 AFL season.

According to Seedsman, his 20-year-old teammate from Lucindale has only gotten stronger over the pre-season.

“Darcy’s great… based on the footy he played last year, he was really exciting,” Seedsman told reporters on Monday.

“He kicked the five goals against West Coast late in the season and we saw what he can do at the level.

“He’s got a good pre-season under his belt, improved fitness, and is a bit stronger again.

“He’s a massive boy and he hits the contest as hard as anyone so looking forward to seeing him… hopefully he gets the opportunity this week.”

Saturday also gave Seedsman a first look at the Club’s 2019 draftees, including its No.6 selection Fischer McAsey.

“He’s sort of got an old head on him, Fish. He reads the game really well and is just so composed and unflustered,” Seedsman said.

“He’s very cool, calm and collected down there and I dare say at some stage you'll see him see him play.”

“I thought some of the young mids - Harry Schoeberg and Ronin (O’Connor) - were quite clean and were breaking through stoppages.

“Benny Crocker played a really good game as well.”

The trial match was Seedsman’s first taste of Matthew Nicks’ new game plan against AFL opposition.

“When we do it (stick to the plan), we see the reward, we're just going to get more consistent,” Seedsman said.

“The way we defend has been slightly different - a bit different to what we've done in the past.

“We are seeing signs of owning the ground about a lot better - it's probably the the area we've put the most work into and over the pre-season.

“Hopefully this week against Gold Coast you'll see a more consistent brand of football over the four quarters.”

Adelaide will take on Gold Coast in its second Marsh Community Series match at Noarlunga Oval on Friday afternoon.

The Club will announce its squad on Thursday night at 5.50pm ACDT.
