Adelaide Crows midfielder Anne Hatchard has been named joint 2020 SANFLW Best and Fairest alongside West Adelaide’s Rachelle Martin.

On Friday, the SANFL confirmed a voting mix-up had cost Hatchard three votes in Round Five against Sturt.

Hatchard, who plays for North Adelaide, recorded a league-record 42 disposals but initially failed to receive a vote from the officiating field umpires.

SANFL General Manager Football Matt Duldig confirmed another Roosters player had mistakenly received Hatchard’s three votes.

“The clear intent from the umpires on the day was to award three votes to Anne and, on that basis, it was only fair that a genuine error which was made aware to us be corrected and that Anne be rightfully honoured for her tremendous season in the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League,” Duldig told the SANFL website.

The accolade is yet another for Hatchard, who enjoyed a stellar 2020 season in the AFLW and SANFLW.

Along with the State League Best and Fairest win, Hatchard was also named Crows Club Champion, selected in the AFLW All Australian side and won a flag with North Adelaide.

The 2021 AFLW season kicks off on February 1, with pre-season commencing in November.
