Workskil Australia has re-signed as a Co-Major Sponsor of Adelaide’s AFLW team, with premiership player Stevie-Lee Thompson taking on an ambassador role to mentor and inspire young and disadvantaged job seekers.

The two-year sponsorship extension comes on the eve of Season Seven and reinforces Workskil Australia’s commitment to women’s sport, with the not-for-profit employment services organisation partnering with the Crows team since its inception in 2017.

The ambassador role, created as part of the new sponsorship agreement, will see Thompson work with Workskil Australia to inspire young jobseekers and educate them about opportunities that are available to them including placements, training and support.

Thompson completed a traineeship with Workskil Australia in 2018 and was supported to complete a Certificate IV in Youth Work. She now is employed as a Student Support Officer at Adelaide High School.

“It can be hard to know where to start when looking for a career start or change,” Thompson said.

“Thanks to Workskil Australia, I was able to complete some further study and am now able to combine that experience with my passion for sport in a role which I love.

“Hopefully through this new ambassador role I can help someone else create a change in their life.”

Crows CEO Tim Silvers said Workskil Australia had helped underpin the sustained success of the Club’s AFLW team since day one.

“Much like our amazing women’s players, this partnership continues to go from strength to strength,” Silvers said.

“We are proud of the role our athletes play as role models on and off the field, and the way in which they use their platform to inspire people of all ages.

“As a member of our player leadership group, Stevie-Lee is a prime example and she will excel in her ambassadorial role.”

Workskil Australia CEO Nicole Dwyer said the Adelaide headquartered organisation was pleased to return as Co-Major Partner for its seventh consecutive season.

“Workskil Australia is incredibly proud to stand alongside the Adelaide Football Club and continue our support of this amazing team of sportswomen,” Ms Dwyer said.

“The dedication and resilience shown by the Adelaide Crows players makes them inspirational role models to job seekers across the country, proving that through hard work and a positive mindset, anything is possible.

“We’re very excited to have Stevie-Lee as an ambassador. We have had a close association with Stevie-Lee throughout her career outside football and we know she will have a positive impact on our job seekers, many of whom are doing it tough.”

Workskil Australia will retain logo representation on the Adelaide Crows AFLW home and away jumper under the renewed sponsorship deal.
