Scans have cleared Crows defender Mitch Hinge of any structural damage to his right knee after he landed awkwardly in a marking contest against Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday.

Hinge was able to finish the game but will be assessed at training this week before selection to play Sydney at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

“Fortunately there was no structural damage to his knee, there is still a bit of swelling there but we anticipate that swelling will go down and he’ll be an assess for this week,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“It was certainly a positive that he was able to play out the game and played very well, and he pulled up fine.”

Forward Izak Rankine is expected to return from a hamstring injury which has sidelined him for the past three games.

“We anticipate Izak will get through all of training and be able to play,” Burgess said.

“It was touch and go last week but we took the conservative approach. He hit all his high speed markers last week, and will get through full training this week we’re pretty sure and will play on the weekend.”

In further good news, Andrew McPherson looks set to return from a serious quad injury in the SANFL.

“He’s had a fairly lengthy rehab with that quad tendon and hit everything that we’ve asked him to hit over the last three or four weeks and will be available for selection,” Burgess said.

“It’s been a tough year for Andrew but he’s been unbelievably positive and I can’t wait to watch him play on the weekend.”

Unfortunately key forward Elliott Himmelberg will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in the SANFL win over West Adelaide on Sunday.

“Elliott pulled up pretty sore after two or three minutes of the game on the weekend and has injured his hamstring,” Burgess said.

“There is some reasonable tendon involvement so unfortunately that will put him out for the rest of the season and he will begin his period of rehab starting this week, so it’s unfortunate news for Elliott and the team.”

Ruckman Kieran Strachan will be assessed at training this week after hurting his wrist and defender Will Hamill has entered the concussion protocols following incidents in the same game at Murray Bridge.

“Strachany hurt his wrist in the SANFL on the weekend, pleasingly he was able to complete the game,” Burgess said.

“He’s a little bit sore but we’ll send him for some further assessments and see where he’s at for this week.

“And Will was running today and presented really well so that’s positive, but we will continue to monitor him according to the protocols.”
