Adelaide forward Taylor Walker says he hopes Saturday night’s heartbreaking one-point loss to Sydney will fuel the group to greater heights in 2024 and beyond.

The Crows were knocked out of finals contention against the Swans when a Ben Keays shot on goal in the dying minutes, which would have put the Crows in front, was incorrectly ruled a behind.

Joining Roo, Ditts and Loz on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast on Tuesday, Walker said he hoped the experience would “galvanise” the group moving forward.

“Everyone involved has felt the pinch with this, it could have been one of the best comebacks our Club has ever had,” Walker said.

“We now get to sit here and say it will sting us, but hopefully it will galvanise us as a young group.

“We’ll look back on this (in a few years) and say this incident got us to where we are, so hopefully we can move forward from it.

“There are errors in humans, there was one on the weekend and we just need to get on with it.”

Attention now turns to the final match of the season - against West Coast in Perth on Saturday night.

Walker was expecting a tough battle, as the Eagles prepared to farewell three of their champions.

“To be honest, our season has been so close to being a great season and I’d be pretty disappointed if we didn’t go over to Perth and get the win,” Walker said.

“We played there last year when Josh Kennedy retired and it was packed (with) 55,000 people and it felt like a final.

“With Luke Shuey, Shannon Hurn and Nic Naitanui all retiring it will be a similar if not bigger occasion for them.

“It’s going to be a hostile crowd and a tough match for us, but we just need to go there and win, plain and simple.”

Adelaide takes on West Coast at Optus Stadium at 7.40pm (ACST).
