Adelaide will be focused on gaining consistency following a tough loss against Fremantle, according to midfielder Jake Soligo.
The Crows’ healthy percentage has them in fifth place but they have the same win/loss record of 4-3 as the Dockers, who moved up to ninth after their win.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Soligo gave an honest assessment of the side’s performance and said just the smallest lapses in form cost the Crows.
“You know what goes wrong on the ground, we probably didn’t bring that contest on the day,” Soligo said.
“If you’re that one per cent off, it’s going to hurt you on the day, so you just have to be consistent.
“We’ve just got to try and bring it each week, which is probably the hardest thing about footy.”
The Crows enjoyed a strong win against Essendon at the MCG, but narrowly went down to Gold Coast and the Dockers in their past two away trips.
Soligo said the Crows’ away form was improving and there were positives to take out of the loss, specifically the final term, whereby Adelaide cut a 42-point deficit to the eventual three-goal margin.
“We’ve had some great games away this year, Essendon at the ‘G, Gold Coast (we lost) by a point and then the one on the weekend, which was unfortunate,” Soligo said.
“I think that’s been one thing we’ve improved on over the last couple of years is to be in those games.
“Previously we were probably a bit far off, but now we feel like we are not too far off in those away games.
“There’s heaps of positives from the game, like that last quarter for example, we were moving the ball well and getting it to our big boys in Filth, Dan and Tex.”
The Crows will look to return to the winners’ list when they take on Carlton at Adelaide Oval this Saturday, with the Blues coming off a strong win against Geelong.
“From what I’ve seen, they’re (Carlton) back in form at the moment,” Soligo said.
“It’s going to be a big challenge on the weekend in front of our home crowd.
“I think if we play our best footy, we can definitely match them, but it’s about bringing our best footy on the day.
“You definitely put the time in to knowing who you’re going up against. They are stars of the comp - Cripps and Walshy - we will hopefully be able to match them on the day.”
Adelaide faces Carlton at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 3.45pm.
