Throughout the first nine months of Coaching Director Murray Davis’ time at Adelaide, one character trait has stood out from the group - connectedness.

And that doesn’t stop with the players, as Davis highlighted how the tight-knit nature of the football department from the coaching department down, had helped spark continued improvement in 2025.

Speaking to the media as the players returned from their mid-season break on Thursday, the Crows’ Coaching Director explained the importance of connectedness in an AFL environment.

“What has impressed me is how tight-knit the group is, and there is a real hunger to continually improve,” Davis said.

“I saw that at Brisbane, and it’s a really good character trait to have, and that’s not just the players, it’s the coaching group as well.

“What you are always looking for is, as a group, how connected you are, and that’s between the lines, in the locker room and away from footy as well.

“I see a group of guys that are really invested in each other, and are pushing each other to get better. There are a lot of good people at the Adelaide Football Club and there were at Brisbane as well, which is a great recipe for success on and off the field.”

The Crows’ return from the mid-season bye was highlighted by the re-signing of ruckman Lachlan McAndrew, who inked a two-year contract extension.

Davis spoke about the impact the 210cm has had on the group since his arrival in December last year.

“For those that watch the SANFL, it is clear that he is a real stand out in that competition,” Davis said.

“He continues to put up good numbers, but numbers aren’t the only thing, he’s done a really good job of implementing himself into the Club.

“He’s put great pressure on ROB (Reilly O’Brien), which has allowed him to play at a really high level as well.

“So I think Lachie has a really bright future ahead of him at this footy Club.”
