Adelaide AFLW coach Matthew Clarke has revealed a selection surprise ahead of the clash against St Kilda on Sunday, with two players set to line up in their first game for the Club.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Clarke said first-round draftee Zoe Prowse would make her long-awaited League debut against the Saints.

Former Brisbane and West Coast forward McKenzie Dowrick will also play her first game for the Club.

Prowse is a versatile tall with a big vertical leap and athleticism. She earned All-Australian selection as a ruck at the under-19 AFLW Championships in 2021 and has been a strong performer with Sturt in the SANFLW.

Dowrick is a skillful, 172cm, left-footer from Western Australia.

She lined up in 12 AFLW games for Brisbane and West Coast before moving to SA to play with Woodville-West Torrens and was then selected by the Crows during the 2022 pre-season.

“We are going to debut a player this week, so Zoe Prowse will play her first game,” Clarke said.

“That’s really exciting for us as a Club and obviously for her as an individual.

“We’ll also have McKenzie Dowrick playing her first game for the Crows.

“That’s really exciting for us as a Club.

“She’s an exciting talent and I know once you see her play you’re going to really enjoy what she brings to the table.”

The full team for the Crows’ final minor round match, against St Kilda, will be released on Saturday.

A victory would help Adelaide secure a top-two finish and a week off before a home preliminary final.

But Clarke said players were refusing to look too far ahead.

“Our focus has been pretty good thus far,” Clarke said.

“I’ve got no interest in any external outcomes of any other game, I really just want to see us play the way I know we can play and if we can do that, I think we’ll have a good day.”

Adelaide plays St Kilda in Round 10 at RSEA Park on Sunday at 12.40pm (ACDT).
