Young Crows midfielder Matt Crouch has claimed his first Showdown Medal after a best-on-ground performance in Saturday night’s 15-point victory over Port Adelaide.
Crouch, 21, impressed in just his third Showdown appearance.
The prolific ball winner amassed a game-high 33 possessions, six marks and five clearances against the Power, and also laid six tackles.
Crouch finished five votes clear of Port Adelaide counterpart Ollie Wines. Wines finished with 28 disposals, 10 clearances and seven inside 50ms to be judged as the Power’s best performer.
Clever forward/midfielder Robbie Gray received eight votes from the judges, while five-goal hero Eddie Betts polled five in his 250th AFL game.
The Showdown Medal judges were Dwayne Russell (Fox Footy), Mark Bickley (FIVEaa), Warren Tredrea (Triple M), Rod Jameson (ABC), Richard Earle (The Advertiser), Ashley Porter (The Age) and Lee Gaskin (AFL Media). Each judge was asked to award votes on a 3, 2, 1 basis.
Crouch follows in the footsteps of teammate Tom Lynch, who also won his first Showdown Medal in Adelaide’s victory over the Power back in Round Two this season.
