Adelaide will honour the exceptional work of Emergency Services personnel at this weekend’s home game against Brisbane.

The Round Nine match on Sunday, May 12, forms part of a three-year partnership between the Crows and the State Government to thank South Australian volunteers and employees from SAPOL, SA Metropolitan Fire Service, SA Country Fire Service, SA State Emergency Service, SAFECOM and SA Ambulance Service.

This year’s game will take place on Mother’s Day, providing footy fans with the opportunity to also celebrate the significant contribution women and mothers make to South Australia’s Emergency Services sector.

As part of the partnership, Emergency Services workers have received 3000 complimentary tickets to attend Sunday’s game against the Lions, through an independent ticket ballot via their agency.

The match will also provide a unique opportunity for Emergency Services agencies to attract new recruits with activations in and around Adelaide Oval that will encourage footy fans of all ages to explore the role of a frontline worker.

Crows CEO Tim Silvers encouraged fans to speak to Emergency Services staff and volunteers at the match to learn more about those who dedicate their lives to protecting and supporting the community.

“We want to have a positive influence in the community so we’re really proud to be involved in an initiative like the Emergency Services Match, as we can not only showcase the tireless work of the staff and volunteers but also learn more about their work and impact,” Silvers said.

“With this year’s match landing on Mother’s Day, it provides an additional opportunity to celebrate the significant contributions of women and mothers involved in the sector and share our appreciation for all they do to protect our communities.”

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Dan Cregan, said the unique set-up around the ground would help inspire future careers.

“This is a chance to meet our hardworking frontline personnel, gain insights into the incredible work they do and consider taking up a volunteer or full-time role,” Minister Cregan said.

“It’s about saying thanks to all those who are committed to serving South Australian communities – and playing on Mother’s Day means the role of women and mothers in the state’s agencies is further recognised.”
