Adelaide defender Oscar Ryan is set to miss the next three-to-four weeks after suffering a fractured jaw during training last week.

The 20-year-old has had surgery, and will be able to return to running within the next week.

“Unfortunately Oscar Ryan has had a small fracture to his jaw on Friday as a result of a training incident,” Adelaide High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said

“He has had that repaired and he will be out for the next three-to-four weeks.

“He will be able to run from next week, so he won’t lose too much fitness there, but we just need to avoid contact for a few weeks.”

Key defender Nick Murray is nearing a return from a knee injury, and will resume training with the main group this week.

“Nick is training really well, he’s going to join in full training with the group this week and be available for selection next week, all things going well,” Burgess said.

First-year Crow Tyler Welsh underwent surgery on the fractured toe he suffered in last week’s SANFL clash against Sturt, and will be on the sidelines for the next two months.

“Tyler Welsh sustained an injury to his toe last weekend, as it turns out that needed to be repaired, so he had surgery last week and that will put him out for about eight weeks,” Burgess said.

Midfielder Matt Crouch is progressing well in his recovery from a hip injury, and is eyeing a return to the main training group in the next two-to-three weeks.

“Crouchy is running well, his hip is feeling good, he’s only doing linear running at the moment so there is still a bit more time to go,” Burgess said.

“We expect him to join training within the next two-to-three weeks and be available for selection shortly after that.”

Key forward Toby Murray is set to tick off a big milestone in his recovery next week, when he begins running on the AlterG machine.

“Toby Murray will start running on the AlterG next week, he’ll do some pool running this week, AlterG next week and then grass after that,” Burgess said.
