Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks has confirmed Skipper Jordan Dawson and veteran forward Taylor Walker will be managed for Thursday night’s clash against Geelong.
Dawson will miss the game after reporting calf tightness following the match against the Western Bulldogs last Friday night.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday morning, Nicks said the Club did not want to risk the Skipper off a six-day break.
“He won’t play, Daws, we couldn’t quite get him ready with the short break and travel, so we won’t take the risk,” Nicks said.
“He’s got a bit of calf tightness, we’re on a pretty tough schedule at the moment, which is one that we want with the Thursday and Friday nighters, but there’s a few six dayers in there, so there’s a bit of management in what we’re doing.
“We’d love to be taking the Captain across, but he’s not quite ready.”
Walker also won’t make the trip to GMHBA Stadium, with the Club opting to manage the 35-year-old for the clash against the Cats.
Nicks confirmed that defender Josh Worrell would be available for the match, after being managed on the training track this week.
Adelaide will announce its starting 23 for its clash against Geelong on Wednesday at 5.50pm (ACDT).
