Patrick Dangerfield made a strong return from a back injury with West Adelaide in the SANFL on Sunday.

In his first SANFL match of the season, Dangerfield started at half-forward but then switched into the midfield and had eight possessions in the first term. He finished the game with seven kicks and 15 handballs and many of his possession were contested, including three marks. Importantly, he appeared to move freely.

For the winning Eagles side, Jared Petrenko (eight kicks, two handballs) played at half-back and controlled his opponents for most of the match.

Jonathon Griffin had a good run on the ball as Central District’s No 1 ruckman. He had 26 hit-outs and also ran hard to get involved round the ground, picking up 15 possessions.

Myke Cook (South) was good in the first half before copping a knock in the leg and spending most of the rest of the game on the bench.

In Friday night’s game at The Parade, Rory Sloane returned to the North Adelaide side with the right attitude and collected 26 possessions across half back. His courage was again on show.

Tony Armstrong, recalled to the league side, had 21 possessions and his run and skills were a feature of his performance. Greg Gallman (eight possessions) was solid with his defensive work.

For Norwood, Will Young (nine kicks, five handballs) was good in defence against smaller opponents while Taylor Walker kicked 1.5 from a dozen possessions and Aaron Kite (eight kicks, four handballs) kicked a goal in the first half and then moved back into defence where he won most of his touches.

In the SANFL reserves, Ricky Henderson (Central) played as a deep forward all game and had eight possessions for one goal. Brian Donnelly (Glenelg) played at full forward and kicked two goals (including a 60m kick with the wind) from five possessions while Tom Lee (Sturt) had six possessions as a tall forward.
