Crows midfielder Scott Thompson earned nine votes from the coaches after his best performance of the year against Melbourne on Saturday.

Thompson amassed a season-high 33 possessions, nine clearances, seven marks, seven tackles, four inside 50ms and a goal against his former team. The 2012 All Australian ignited the home team in the first half, collecting 22 disposals at an impressive 91 per cent efficiency. He was tagged by young Demon Jack Viney after half-time.

Forward Lewis Johnston (seven votes) was adjudged the next-best player on the ground by coaches Brenton Sanderson and Neil Craig. Johnston slotted six goals, including the last-ever goal by a Crow at AAMI Stadium.

Young trio Brad Crouch, Mitch Grigg and Luke Brown were also among the vote-getters.

Crouch received five votes after gathering an equal-career high 31 disposals, five marks, five clearances and five tackles. Grigg, who collected 21 possessions, seven marks, seven tackles and 1.2 in the best game of his short AFL career, was awarded three votes and Brown earned one vote after picking up a career-best 24 touches in defence.

Ruckman Sam Jacobs (two votes) and Patrick Dangerfield (one) were the other Crows to capture the attention of the coaches. Melbourne midfielder Nathan Jones (two) was the only Demon to receive a vote.

Dangerfield’s vote was enough to keep him in equal-ninth place on the overall AFLCA Champion Player of the Year leaderboard, with 65 votes. Geelong captain Joel Selwood (92) leads the way ahead of Sydney’s Kieren Jack (90).
