SANFL Crows captain Ian Callinan has been named in the South Australian team to play the VFL on Saturday.

Callinan, who spent the three years on Adelaide's rookie and primary lists before becoming an assistant development coach this season, is the only Crows player in the 31-man squad. The SANFL state team cannot include any AFL listed players from either Adelaide or Port Adelaide.

The selection adds to Callinan’s long list of SANFL achievements, including four SANFL premierships, two club best and fairests with Central District, and a Jack Oatey Medal for his performance in the 2010 Grand Final.

Unfortunately, two other former Crows, Richard Tambling and Chris Schmidt, have been ruled out because of injury. The pair was on the verge of selection in Saturday’s clash with the VFL at North Port Oval, but will be unable to take its place after Schmidt broke his hand and Tambling reported hamstring tightness

Crows SANFL assistant Jarrod Cotton served on the SANFL’s panel of selectors and will join State coach Michael Godden as an assistant coach for the clash.
