Two Crows will celebrate milestones against Collingwood on Sunday evening. Best-and-fairest winner Richard Douglas will play game number 150, while recruit James Podsiadly will notch up his 100th AFL match. Podsiadly played 83 games for Geelong before joining Adelaide this season.

If Scott Thompson recovers from injury, he will play his 100th consecutive game against the Pies. Thompson’s streak of matches dates back to Round Nine, 2010. This is the second-longest current active streak in the AFL behind only Josh Kennedy’s current mark of 123 consecutive games for Hawthorn and now the Sydney Swans, which dates back to Round 14, 2009.

Adelaide snapped a six-game losing streak against Collingwood in Round Nine this season. The Crows came from two goals down at quarter time to record a comfortable 21-point win at Adelaide Oval. It was coach Brenton Sanderson’s first win over best mate and Pies coach Nathan Buckley.

The Crows haven’t beaten the Magpies at the MCG since Round One, 2009, in Taylor Walker and Jared Petrenko’s AFL debuts.

The Crows and Pies have met 37 times, with Collingwood leading 25-12 overall.

Only four points separates the eighth-placed Pies and 10th-placed Crows on the AFL ladder. The Pies have lost four of their past five games, while Adelaide has won three of its last five.

Pies skipper Scott Pendlebury has averaged 33 possessions and a goal in his past four games against Adelaide. Pendlebury was ranked third in the League for total possessions (456) prior to the start of the split round.

Tom Lynch and Jarryd Lyons each kicked four goals when these two teams last met at the MCG in Round 16 last season. The Crows led by 25 points at quarter time, but the Pies took control in the second term and ran out easy 27-point victors.

Collingwood’s game is based on defensive pressure. The Pies force their opposition into more clanger kicks per game than any other team, with the exception of Hawthorn (ranked equal-first). They average 72.2 tackles per game – ranked fourth in the AFL and are also fourth-best at preventing opposition inside 50m entries from becoming scores.

The Magpies have conceded fewer points this season than any team with the exception of Sydney and Fremantle.

The Crows will be out to record a rare win at the MCG on Sunday. Adelaide has won just one game from its last 12 attempts at the venue.

The Magpies play on from a mark the second most (35 per cent) of any team in the competition.

Travis Cloke tops Collingwood’s goalkicking with 31 this season, one ahead of small forward Jamie Elliott (30). The Pies like to hit lead-up targets, like Cloke, in attack – ranked fourth in the AFL for marks inside 50m.

Adelaide ranks fourth in the League for goals (13.5 average) and inside 50ms (55.3 average) – the highest ranking of any team outside the top eight.

Wingman Clinton Young can be a damaging player. Young is third in the AFL for metres gained behind Swan Nick Malceski and Crow Brodie Smith.

Ten Crows have played every game so far this season – ranked equal-first in the League.
