Emerging midfielder Jarryd Lyons has extended his stay at the Adelaide Crows by a further two years.

The Victorian played 10 AFL games this year and had attracted interest from rival clubs during the recent trade period.

Known as a stoppage specialist and prolific ball winner, Lyons has also demonstrated he can play as a forward and kicked three goals against North Melbourne in Round 22.

He was taken with pick 61 at the 2010 national draft.

Lyons, 22, wants to be part of the team-orientated environment at Adelaide.

“I met with Phil Walsh and like where the Club is heading,” Lyons said.

“It is an exciting time and we are all ready for the hard work ahead.”

Crows Head of Football David Noble said the Club was pleased with Lyons’ ongoing development.

“Phil Walsh and I think his ability to play forward and through the midfield can be a real advantage for our team,” Noble said.

“He is a player who should push for a regular spot in the line-up in 2015.”

Adelaide has also struck fresh agreements with defenders Sam Shaw and Sam Siggins, as well as Rory Atkins.
