Big Crow’s Birthday bash

Josh Jenkins will celebrate his upcoming birthday by meeting sporting idol Dennis Rodman.

Rodman will be in Adelaide on February 8, which also happens to be Jenkins’ 26th birthday, as part of the NBA Hall-of-Famer’s ‘Bad Boy’ Tour. Renowned as one of the most colourful and controversial athletes of all-time, Rodman will offer a rare insight into his highly-publicized life on and off the court in shows in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. Find out more and get tickets to the show.

Jenkins will be joined by a group of Crows, including fellow NBA fans Eddie Betts, Sam Jacobs and Andy Otten, and also members of the Adelaide 36ers.

Jenkins got an early birthday present when he received a tweet from Rodman himself.

Romsey on the ‘Radar’

No one was happier to see Jake Lever join the Crows than defender Brent Reilly.

As well as sharing the same TAC Cup team, the Calder Cannons, Reilly and Lever are both products of the same local junior football club, the Romsey Football and Netball Club. The town of Romsey is situated about 60 kilometres north of Melbourne. The Romsey Redbacks are part of the Riddell District Football League, which also includes Richard Douglas’ junior club, Broadford.

Several of Reilly’s Adelaide teammates, including Patrick Dangerfield, refer to the neat-kicking backman as the ‘Romsey Flyer’. Lever said he was proud to join Reilly in the AFL ranks.

“I spoke to Brent on the phone after I got drafted and he was pretty happy to have another player from the same home club as him,” Lever said.

“There’s not many of us. I think there are only a few thousand people in the town of Romsey, so it’s pretty quiet down there, but it’s good to have two of us here at the Crows now.”

Dangerfield on the down low

Congratulations to Patrick Dangerfield and long-time partner Mardi, who got engaged over the Christmas break. The private pair kept the news quiet, telling only family and close friends. That was until cheeky Crow Scott Thompson spilled the beans during a recent press conference. Dangerfield joined 2014 acting co-captain Rory Sloane, who proposed to girlfriend Belinda, in popping the question over the break.

Come on!

Australian tennis champ and No.1 Ticket Holder Lleyton Hewitt stopped by the Club last week before heading to Melbourne for his 19th Australian Open campaign. The former world No.1 spoke candidly to a group of Crows players, eager to hear stories of his career and his advice on succeeding at the elite level. After the casual chat, the avid Crows fan was keen to talk footy and also toured the facilities. ‘Rusty’ also showed his entourage, including Tony Roche and Peter Luczak, around the museum and replica locker room at West Lakes and posed for a photo with a cut out of his good mate Tyson Edwards.
