Demons midfielder Jack Viney has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with the Crows and could miss at least a month of football with a broken leg.

Jack sustained a knock to his right leg late in the game against GWS and an MRI scan revealed a small fracture in his right fibula.

Melbourne Manager of Football Josh Mahoney said it was a disappointing setback for the emerging youngster.

“This injury does not require surgery, it will be treated symptomatically and once the bone has healed he will return to play,” he said.

“Jack is a very professional player and he will do everything possible to return from this injury as quick as possible.”

Viney has played 35 games since joining the Demons through the 2012 National Draft as a father-son recruit. He averaged 21 disposals across the first two rounds of Season 2015.
