Adelaide Oval had an international feel to it on Thursday as Spanish soccer team Villarreal got to learn a bit about Australian Rules Football.

Ahead of their clash with Adelaide United tonight, star players Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos and Denis Cheryshev swapped a round ball for a red Sherrin.

The global superstars make curling a soccer ball into the top corner look easy, however, the Villarreal players were far less comfortable trying to master the art of the drop punt.

Crows players Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Charlie Cameron and Anthony Wilson were on hand to try and teach the visitors about Australia’s native game.

Adelaide United players Eugene Galekovic, Sergio Cirio, Michael Marrone and Pablo Sanchez joined in for the cross-code, cross-country photoshoot.

Ellis-Yolmen said it was a light-heated occasion and a great chance to show off AFL to an international market.

“It was so much fun to be able to meet the guys from Villarreal,” he said.

“Trying to teach them the skills of AFL like kicking and handpassing was interesting.

“It’s obviously something they aren’t used to.”

Adelaide United take on Villarreal at Coopers Stadium tonight.

The Spanish soccer club will also be at the Crows Indigenous Round match against Fremantle on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval.
