Louise Linke thought nothing could better the blistering first quarter by the Adelaide Crows on Sunday at Adelaide Oval.

Passionate members Ms Linke and her husband Simon were in Eddie’s pocket, in the north-eastern corner of Adelaide Oval, enthralled by the Crows’ stunning eight-goal opener.

But their day got even better when, at half-time, they won a brand new Toyota Yaris as part of RAA Member Appreciation Round.

The couple, who live in Williamstown in the Barossa and have been to every Crows home game at Adelaide Oval, spent several weeks making their “car windscreen banner” with the final touches made late on Saturday night before they made the trip to Adelaide on Sunday morning.

Their banner was selected by the judging panel as the best Members banner at the ground.

Ms Linke said she thought they had a good concept and were in with a chance.

“We were really happy with what we made but you never know what other people will come up with,” said Ms Linke.

“We were told early on we had a one in five chance and then at half-time we thought they were just filming all the banners in Eddie’s pocket, and then suddenly they announced we had won.

“The first quarter was amazing but winning the car actually topped it.”

Now a battle looms at home to see who will drive the Toyota Yaris valued at $18,519 on-road.

Both Louise and her husband Simon commute to Adelaide daily from Williamstown for their work and have high mileage on their cars, both manufactured in the early 2000s.

“I think I should get it as I certainly did more work on the banner,” Ms Linke joked.

“We have been long-time Crows fans and we were on the membership waiting list for a while.

“We became members when the games moved to Adelaide Oval and that membership has certainly paid off now.”

The prize of a Toyota Yaris at RAA Members Appreciation Round was made possible by Club Patron Rob Gerard and Club Chairman Rob Chapman who generously donated the Toyota Yaris to the Adelaide Crows Children’s Foundation – supporting disadvantaged children in the community.
