The countdown is on for the launch of another epic AFL Fantasy season with this year’s competition opening on Tuesday, February 2.

It's been a monster off-season already, with every club's prices and positions revealed over the Christmas/New Year period, followed by the bombshell of 34 past and present Essendon players being suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The banned players on AFL lists won't appear in Fantasy when it launches but the Bombers' top-up players (along with the prices) will be added to the selection list once the club has finalised the 10 new players.

Fantasy prices: Adelaide

First-round gun draftees like Callum Mills from the Sydney Swans and Clayton Oliver from Melbourne are cheaper this year than they have been in the past, making them prime candidates for your squad, along with Fantasy stars like Tom Liberatore and Jaeger O'Meara, who will be returning from long-term injuries.

All your favourite Fantasy formats will be back for 2016:

Fantasy Classic: The most popular game – pick a squad of 30 to cheer on each week
Fantasy Elite: The draft game - only one person can pick Nat Fyfe
Fantasy Match Day: Pick the best seven Fantasy players for a single game to win. Available this year on every AFL match!

Fantasy preview: Defenders
Fantasy preview: Forwards

The NAB Challenge is just around the corner and the AFL.com.au match centre will have live Fantasy points for every game so you can put a practice squad to the test as we march towards Round One.

Fantasy players from previous years can sign up with their 2015 login details from Tuesday, while new players can quickly start picking a squad with a simple Facebook or email login process.

There's also a fantastic prize on offer this year for those who fill their Fantasy leagues by February 28 – a money-can't-buy experience of having your photo taken with the AFL's finest on the official Captain's Day.
