Everyone knows Eddie Betts is a star on the field, but he’s possibly an even bigger hero off of it.

The two-time Crows leading goalkicker was a popular figure during Adelaide’s visit to the Mid North as part of the Club’s Australia Post AFL Community Camp. Fans young and old warm to the smiley 29-year-old for a high five, a photo and an autograph or two.

Originally from the regional centre of Port Lincoln, Eddie knows first-hand the impact that such community visits can have on the tight-knit country towns.

That’s why the friendly forward didn’t hesitate when asked for a quick photo for one of his biggest fans in the region, Di Dubois, who is currently undergoing treatment for bowel cancer.

Eddie went one step further and recorded a special message for the popular local, which is sure to lift her spirits.

Onya Ed!
