Rory Laird will miss up to three weeks after scans revealed a fracture of his injured toe.

Laird, 22, spent most of the last quarter against Fremantle on the interchange bench with his foot iced.

Crows General Manager of High Performance Brett Burton said the defender would need a stint on the sidelines to allow the injury to heal.

“Rory came off in the last quarter of Saturday’s game and scans have revealed a fracture in his toe,” Burton said on Tuesday.

“It’s unfortunate for both Rory and the Club and we expect him to miss 2 - 3 weeks as he recovers.”

In positive news, Jake Lever, Mitch McGovern and Paul Seedsman will all be fit to tackle the Dogs.

Lever (shoulder), McGovern (knee) and Seedsman (knee) were all assessed for knocks during Adelaide’s win over the Dockers, but played out the game and have been cleared of serious damage.

The Crows reported one new injury in the SANFL on the weekend.

Young forward Harry Dear suffered a concussion in the first quarter of the Club’s loss to South Adelaide and took no further part in the game.

Defender Jake Kelly withdrew from Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with a sore hand.

Burton said the injury was at the minor end of the scale.

“Further assessment revealed that Jake’s got a small fracture in his hand,” Burton said.

“We’ll assess him as the week goes on, but he’s probably unlikely to play this week given we’ve got the SANFL bye the next weekend.”

Troy Menzel and Sam Shaw both sat out the game against the Panthers as they recover from concussion. Dear, Menzel and Shaw will all be assessed in accordance with standard concussion protocols to determine their availability.

Defender Andy Otten has recovered from a concussion sustained against Glenelg, but will be unavailable for selection as he serves the second week of a two-game ban for umpire contact.

Brad Crouch (hamstring) and Wayne Milera (quad) made successful comebacks from injury on Sunday, and were among the players to press their claims for AFL recalls.

Running defender Curtly Hampton (foot) is at least a month away from playing.
