Rory Laird will miss up to three weeks after scans revealed a fracture of his injured toe.

Laird spent most of the last quarter against Fremantle on the interchange bench with his foot iced.

Crows General Manager of High Performance Brett Burton said the defender would need a stint on the sidelines to allow the injury to heal.

“Rory came off in the last quarter of Saturday’s game and scans have revealed a fracture in his toe,” Burton said on Tuesday.

“It’s unfortunate for both Rory and the Club and we expect him to miss 2 - 3 weeks as he recovers.”

Laird’s unavailability means Adelaide will have to make at least one change to its team to play the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

The Club has a number of players performing strongly in the SANFL.

Brad Crouch and Wayne Milera Junior made successful returns from injury against South Adelaide on Sunday, while Ricky Henderson, Riley Knight, Mitch Grigg, Cam Ellis-Yolmen and Nathan van Berlo are among the players with AFL experience pushing for a recall.
