Crows midfielder David Mackay will be sidelined for up to a month with a hamstring strain.

Mackay, 27, sustained the injury during Adelaide’s loss to the Western Bulldogs on the weekend.

General Manager of High Performance Brett Burton said scans had revealed the extent of the injury.

“David experienced hamstring soreness in the second half of Saturday night’s match and sat out the last quarter,” Burton said.

“Unfortunately, further assessment has revealed a hamstring strain that will keep him sidelined for 3–4 weeks.”

Captain Taylor Walker sent a scare through the Crows camp when he limped off in the second quarter of the clash with the Dogs.

Burton said Walker wasn’t in any doubt for this week.

“You would’ve seen him (Walker) get a knock to the knee,” he said.

“He got assessed and, obviously, finished out the game, so Taylor will be fine for this week.”

Riley Knight (ankle) and Alex Keath (knee soreness) were late withdrawals from Adelaide’s SANFL team on the weekend. Wayne Milera Junior, who was the AFL travelling emergency, was also held out of the game against North Adelaide.

Forward/ruckman Luke Lowden suffered a corked thigh in the come-from-behind win over the Roosters at Prospect, but was able to play out the game.

Knight and Keath, along with young defender Jake Kelly (hand) all expected to be fit for the Club’s next SANFL match on Saturday, May 21, while Sam Shaw will be assessed in line with concussion protocols. The SANFL Crows have a bye this weekend.

Andy Otten is available for selection having served a two-game SANFL ban for umpire contact.

Rory Laird is likely to miss at least another week with a fractured toe, while Curtly Hampton is progressing well in his recovery from foot surgery.
