Adelaide utility David Mackay believes the in-form Crows still have more improvement to come.

Adelaide, the league's highest-scoring outfit, rose to third on the ladder after beating Carlton by 10 goals on Sunday at the MCG - their seventh consecutive win.

"In those seven games we have played some good footy but we still think there's a lot of improvement left in us, which is really exciting," Mackay said.

"We are still building and that is the exciting thing for us as a group.

"I think our team defence has still got a little bit of improvement left in us and our scoring, although it has been a strength, I still think we can keep improving in that."

What they learned: Round 16

Mackay said consolidating a coveted top-four spot wasn't on the radar of the Crows, who host Collingwood on Saturday night.

"We have just to keep playing our way and keep trying to win games, it's as simple as that really,” he said.

"It's so tight in that part of the ladder and a result either way every weekend is going to change things.

"It's just really important that we stick to the process, worry about who we're playing in the week coming up - that is all we really can do.

"We feel like if we play our best footy, we can match it with any team in the competition, there's no doubt.

"For us it's just a matter of keep building and consistently playing our best footy."
