Geelong small forward Cory Gregson will not be available for Saturday night’s blockbuster clash with the Crows after he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot.

The skilful South Australian, who served as the club’s non-playing emergency for last round’s trip to Perth to play Fremantle, will miss the rest of the season with the injury.

The 19-year-old has played 29 games since making his debut in Round One last year.

Geelong football manager Steve Hocking said Gregson reported pain over the weekend and scans revealed the seriousness of the issue.

"Cory suffered slight pain that progressed and he was immediately sent for scans," Hocking said.

"The scans revealed the stress fracture. Normally the recovery period for an injury like this is 8-10 weeks."

Geelong is expected to recall Brownlow Medallist Jimmy Bartel for this week’s match against Adelaide at Simonds Stadium.

Doubt surrounds the fitness of defender Lachie Henderson after the former Blue was concussed in a heavy collision at Domain Stadium last Friday night.
