The Crows Children’s Foundation’s inaugural ‘Kids Clothes for a Cause’ campaign in partnership with The Salvation Army is already making a difference to a number of South Australian families.

The clothing collected through the initiative has been distributed to various programs run by Salvation Army centres across South Australia, including:

- APY Lands program: where The Salvation Army take Clothing and furniture into APY Lands to support the local community.

- Bramwell House (Domestic Violence shelter): to assist children of families in care.

- Ingle Farm centre: where clothing has been of great assistance to the young mums support services.

- Generally across The Salvation Army’s network of community centres where assistance is provided to those in need on a daily basis.

The clothes drive, which was held at the Round 19 Essendon clash, resulted in more than 20 wheelie bins of children’s clothing being collected. Fans also donated more than $2,500 to the Crows Children’s Foundation via a tin rattle.

The Foundation and The Salvation Army would like to thank the fans for their generous donations and incredible support.

The Salvation Army is one of four charity partners for The Crows Children’s Foundation in 2016 and when approached by the Foundation to see what they were most in need of, they indicated they had a significant shortage of clothing for kids of all ages – from babies through to teens.

The Club kick-started the drive by donating approximately 100 t-shirts and jumpers from CROWmania as well as 100 children’s tickets for disadvantaged families to attend the Essendon game.

Earlier this year, The Salvation Army was granted seed funding of $18,000 to support STREETDREAMS, a hip hop dance program based in Mt Barker that inspires young people aged 8–18 years to reach their full potential in physical, mental and emotional health.

In October each year, the Foundation calls for grant submissions from children’s charities for support in the following season, please click here for further details.
