The Adelaide Football Club and leading Australian retailer Harris Scarfe have announced they are joining forces in a major partnership which will support the Crows’ women’s team during its first year in the newly formed AFL national women’s league.

Adelaide is among eight clubs to have a women’s line-up with Carlton, Collingwood, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle, Brisbane and Greater Western Sydney also competing in the inaugural season which kicks off in February 2017.

The partnership, which is the first major sports sponsorship undertaken by Harris Scarfe in its 167-year history, will see the retailer’s green and white logo prominently on the back of the women’s team guernsey.

As one of two co-major partners for the women’s squad, Harris Scarfe will also be featured on other team uniform, apparel and major assets for the team.

Adelaide Football Club Chief Executive Officer Andrew Fagan said the Club was proud to be working with Harris Scarfe to support the growth of women’s football.

“It’s been an exciting couple of weeks in the development of our women’s team with the announcement of our first coach and we are thrilled to now have the support of such an iconic retailer in Harris Scarfe,” Fagan said.

"There are great synergies between the Crows and Harris Scarfe; both brands have a strong culture and an uncompromising pursuit of excellence through innovation and passion.

“Our Club is proud to be SA’s sole representative in the national women’s league and for the opportunities this brings.

“We are part of an exciting era in Australian sport and there continues to be strong backing from all areas of the community as we build towards making the Crows the club of choice for women and girls.”

Harris Scarfe General Manager, Marketing, Simon Burrett said the Department Store was excited to be part of this new development.

“We are thrilled to be part of this innovative development in elite sport,” Burrett said.

“This is an exciting time for Harris Scarfe, with new stores, new brands and our innovative international partnership all kicking into gear.  It’s time to spread the word, and this partnership with the Crows is part of the plan.

“For our team and our customers, it’s an opportunity to celebrate our exciting future.”

The Crows team is in partnership with AFLNT and will likely play home games in Adelaide, as well as Darwin and possibly Alice Springs.
