He may be on holidays, but that didn’t stop Eddie Betts from bringing some much needed cheer to a southern suburbs family this week.

Jason and Kelly Cannell and their three children Kalista, 14, Ashton, 12, and Dayton, 8, lost everything when their house in Christie Downs burnt down in August.

Kelly suffered burns in the fire, which started when a heater blew up, and the family was forced to flee over the back fence.

The Cannells didn’t have insurance and, to make matters worse, in the days that followed their house was looted, their shed broken into and Jason’s work power tools stolen.

Avid Crows supporters, the family was devastated about losing all of their footy gear.

When Jason’s brother Damon, also a Crows fan, contacted the Club and explained the situation the family was facing, the Crows Children’s Foundation and Betts were eager to help.

The family came into the Club for a kick and a chat with Eddie and were thrilled with a donation of Crows gear, footy cards, Adidas apparel and a Stihl voucher to help Jason replace some of his power tools.

Kelly said they were blown away by the generosity of the Club and so many in the wider community.
